LBS Center for Science and Technology on behalf of Kerala Government Directorate of Technical Education has called for applications for admission into Bachelor of Hospitality Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), Kerala 2022-23 offered in 8 self-funded colleges in Kerala affiliated with Kerala Technological University (3), MG University (1), Calicut University (1) and Kerala University (3).
BHMCT is a vocational program that equips students with the skills and knowledge required for employment in the hospitality industry or to start their own business. This is a comprehensive course that emphasizes both subject knowledge and hands-on training in issues that may arise in daily life. The program offers students the opportunity to study cooking at a level comparable to that of chefs and to practice it as a profession. The program is suitable for those interested in the hotel management, travel and tourism sectors.
Eligibility: Only citizens of India are eligible for admission unless otherwise advised. Overseas Indian Citizen cardholder (including PIO cardholder) will only be eligible for admission to any non-resident Indian seat or supernumerary seat. Keralites, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II) are eligible for admission to the course subject to the eligibility set for each category and detailed in the Prospectus available on www.lbscentre.in
Academic eligibility: Applicant must have passed the Upper Secondary Examination (10+2) conducted by the HSE Kerala Board or an equivalent examination approved by the Affiliated Universities of the respective colleges with the minimum marks prescribed by the respective universities.
Selection process: Selection will be based on the Kerala Hotel Management Aptitude Test (KHMAT) which will be conducted by the LBS center. The entrance exam will be 90 minutes long and will take place in various centers and will consist of objective type multiple choice questions among (i) basic mathematics (20 questions) (ii) communication skills ( 20) (iii) General Knowledge and Current Affairs (20) (iv) Hotel and Restaurant Technology Awareness (30). Each question will earn 1 point. No points will be deducted for an incorrect answer. The date of the exam will be communicated later.
Selection to government seats will be based on rank in KHMAT. Selection of leadership seats will be made directly by management based on a valid KHMAT score or a score from any recognized national level entrance exam for the BHMCT course.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at www.lbscntre.in no later than 20.8.2022. The application fee is Rs.1200/- (RS.600/- for SC/ST). The amount can be paid online or in cash at Federal Bank branches in Kerala using the challan which can be downloaded while submitting the application.
