IHG has introduced a luxury resort in Victoria’s popular tourist hotspot, Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula.
The InterContinental Sorrento Mornington Peninsula takes center stage at The Continental, an 1875 heritage site that has been transformed into a modern dining, beverage and wellness destination.
The hotel, which opened August 1, joins IHG’s growing Luxury and Lifestyle collection.

Designed by Woods Bagot as a modernized coastal retreat, the property celebrates the area’s Victorian and Deco eras with carefully restored original features and old photos of Mornington Peninsula beach parties from the 19e and 20e century among the extensive art collection.
There are 108 rooms and suites in the original limestone building and a newly built wing that has private outdoor terraces, and penthouses will be introduced later in the year.
The property also features a guest-only pool deck, 24-hour fitness center, two restaurants, including celebrity Melbourne chef Scott Pickett’s seafood restaurant Audrey’s, a beer garden, a front bar and a speakeasy.
The restored Grand Ballroom will be used for private events, and the hotel’s spa, Aurora Spa and Bathhouse, will open later this year in a thermal bath and wellness center.
