This summer, Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island celebrates its first anniversary, marking a year of accomplishments in guest numbers, sustainability and operations.
The sprawling property officially opened in July 2021 in Ras Al Khaimah’s newest beachfront destination, Marjan Island and within a year has quickly become the destination of choice in the emirate of North for families, couples and friends. The largest Hampton by Hilton in the world, the property has a 750-meter beach, an infinity pool and stunning sea views, perfect for sun-seekers. For foodies, Karma Kafe and Claw BBQ offer a fun culinary escape with live entertainment. Claw BBQ is home to the widely recognized “Mechanical Bull”; whose current record is 46 seconds. The hotel also brings together a diverse team of 34 nationalities, providing its guests with exceptional levels of service.
The past 12 months have seen the property’s continued efforts to launch sustainable businesses for the property, exceeding the goals set by General Manager John Riad in July 2021 when the hotel began welcoming guests. The property has also embarked on various initiatives to give back to the local community, including a clothing donation campaign in conjunction with the Al Ihsan charity, Ras Al Khaimah.

The hotel has been able to accomplish notable feats in a short time, including receiving the RAK Green Hotel Award in May 2022 for its outstanding performance and dedication to the success of the Green Hotel initiative in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The property has also been nominated for the Middle East’s Leading Green Hotel 2022 by the World Travel Awards, the travel industry’s most prestigious awards program, recognizing leaders in the tourism, airline, hospitality and and the hotel industry.
Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is the first property in the Hilton portfolio in the area to feature a biodigester, a food composter that converts food waste into gray water, reducing the property’s carbon footprint. This innovative initiative is part of a strategy to help the property achieve its zero waste sustainability goals.
When it opened, the property was also the first hotel to offer the 40 visiting general managers an “ocean bottle” – the reusable bottles are from an international maritime conservation initiative where 11.368 kg of plastic, destined for the ‘ocean, are collected for each bottle purchased. .
During the year, the property accumulated a significant number of recyclable materials including 384 plastic bottles and cans, 192 glass bottles and 54 tonnes of cardboard sent to the municipality for recycling. In addition, 3,600 liters of used cooking oil were sent to the municipality to be recycled into biodiesel. Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is held to a higher standard than other Hilton hotels and is expected to lead EMEA in sustainability efforts as one of the newest hotel additions.
