Accor has introduced its The Sebel brand of hotels and apartments to the Whitsundays with the opening of a property in the tropical resort town of Airlie Beach.
The Sebel Whitsundays Airlie Beach, which debuted in December, offers 54 newly renovated rooms, including one- and two-bedroom apartments, three-bedroom penthouses, and four-bedroom presidential suites.
It also includes a 15-meter swimming pool, an outdoor heated spa, a fitness center and an outdoor dining area with barbecue.
Accor Pacific chief executive Simon McGrath said the company was delighted to bring the brand to one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations.
“The Sebel has a long-standing reputation for providing exceptional accommodations and an exceptional service experience. This brings quality and credibility to the serviced apartment sector, which is rapidly gaining popularity,” he said.
“We are seeing significant visitor numbers to our properties in the Whitsundays and expect further growth as Queensland border restrictions ease.”
The Sebel Whitsundays Airlie Beach has joined Accor’s network of more than 30 The Sebel properties in Australia and New Zealand following the signing of a franchise agreement with the Australian company At Hotel Group.
The hotel group’s general manager, Jeff Aquilina, said he was convinced that the establishment would be very successful under Accor.
“The Accor brands have well-established global reach and strength, which translates into strong brand awareness and strong market penetration. To associate the Sebel brand with this property is a natural association,” said Aquilina.
“We believe the Sebel brand perfectly captures the essence of this upscale, apartment-style resort.”
Airlie Beach is a popular base for vacationers looking to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands, and the Sebel property is conveniently located opposite Airlie Marina and a short walk from the town center.
In the Whitsundays region, Accor also operates Mantra Boathouse Apartments Airlie Beach and Mantra Club Croc Airlie Beach.
